England test squad to New Zealand

  • Joe root an average summer with the bat for his standards. Captained quite well but still needs to convert 50’s into 100’s.
  • Zac Crawley great first-class summer it will be a battle between him and Sibley for who opens. I would prefer Sibley.
  • Jofra Archer what a first summer of international cricket taking wickets left right and centre and becoming a fan favourite.
  • Ollie pope back in the squad after a strong back end to the season after being out for a lot of it with a broken arm.
  • Stuart broad a much better summer bowling much fuller and taking a lot more wickets.
  • Dominic Sibley an awesome season facing the most balls in division 1 and being the only player to score over 1000 runs. I feel he will open with Burns in the first test.
  • Ben Stokes, it was his summer he was doing everything. Hopefully, he can continue that form for the next few years.
  • Matt Parkinson, probably going to have to carry drinks but it will be a good experience and I think he will play in the t20 games.
  • Rory Burns, good ashes held his place down as an England opener with consistent performance’s.
  • Joe Denly grew into the ashes and finished with a solid 92 at the oval.
  • Saquib Mahmood great first bowler could force his way into the team with Anderson’s injury.
  • Sam Curran unlucky not to play in a sea but he did well when he came in for the last game.
  • Chris woakes out of form with the red ball will have to play well to come back in.
  • Jos Butler also disappointing, however, his 70 in the last game proved he still has it.
  • Jack Leach a decent summer proving he was England’s main spinner.

  1. If Woakes should do well anywhere it’s New Zealand. A great opportunity to improve his overseas record.

Buttler grafted and occupied the crease well for 30 and 40 odd in the fourth Test then went on in the fifth. He actually applied himself better than many there and looked like a Test batsman.

      1. I just think that New Zealand is often green and favours swing and seam so would like to think that Woakes could do well.

I thought that Buttler batted for the team, occupying the crease and just facing lots of deliveries. That helped him regain some form then he kicked on in the last match.
