Englands t20 squad to New Zealand

England has 5 t20’s in the winter against new Zealand. This is the squad and what I think about it.

  • Eoin Morgan, the captain very reliable obvious selection. Can he win the world t20 to add to the 50 over world cup?
  • Jonny Bairstow dropped from the Test squad because of bad form. However, he is a serious player and some think he is better suited to white-ball cricket.
  • Tom Banton, the promising 20-year-old has scored over 1000 white ball runs this year. If he can do well in these 5 games he may be able to force his way into the t20 world cup team.
  • Sam Billings, a bad injury that kept him out a lot of the summer. However, he finished well with back to back hundreds and his t20 fifty against West Indies last year showed his class.
  • Pat Brown, a very good death bowler and an old head on young shoulders for somebody 21 years young.
  • Sam Curran, lots of bottle and he can be whatever he wants. In t20 I think he is a better bat than bowl. However, how is he going to get into his side if his bowling isn’t up to it?
  • Tom Curran, lots of fight like his brother unlucky to miss out playing in the world cup.
  • Good test player but I have no clue why he is here.
  • Lewis Gregory, consistently good in the blast with bat and ball.
  • Chris Jordan has been around a while but hasn’t done much for England unfortunately.
  • Saquib Mahmood wonderful pace bowler great season in all formats. Could cement his place on the team with 5 good performances.
  • David Malan, good blast but will struggle to get into the side as he isn’t getting any younger.
  • Matt Parkinson, a good young spinner with a lot of bottle. I hope he gets game’s to show what he can do.
  • Adil Rashid a quality spinner, however, his confidence is knocked.
  • James Vince, why is he here he has had so many chances. How many more can he have?

  1. I think that you’ve missed Joe Denly’s name, where you’ve put Good Test player etc.

I like Malan as a cricketer (4xT20I 50s) but yes competition is fierce.

I’m a huge fan of the Curran brothers. I believe the word is chutzpah.

Yes, Jordan. Has his moments but it’s probably his fielding that helps get him in the team. Hopefully he provides useful experience around Brown and Mahmood.

All in all and like the Test squad some exciting selections. Not sure that Roy needs resting though.
