Somerset Vs Surrey

Surrey took on Somerset at the cooper associates county ground. Surrey had not had much success leading into this game at this ground. For Somerset, Eddie Byrom came into the team and for Surrey Sam Curran came in. Somerset won the toss and put Surrey into bat.

Somerset made a good start with Jacks failing to get Taylor over Waller at mid-on. Out for 9. Surrey 12-1 in the second over when Curran joined Finch. They combined for 67 balls putting a 100 on in that time. Both of them showing their IPL class before Curran after hitting a classy 53 off 37 fell. Caught on the boundary by Overton of the bowling of waller. Surrey 112-2 in the 13th. With Curran out Finch accelerated to 72 off 44 with some sublime ball striking. He hit waller for another big six and he looked like he could take the game away from somerset. Then he was caught in the deep of Waller next ball. Surrey 147-3 off 16 overs. Somerset would have liked to restrict Surrey to under 200 but pope with some inventive shots mixed in with big-hitting hit 37 off 19 and Curran’s 23 of 11 helped also. Surrey 203-4 with there bowling attack they would back themselves to defend the total.

somerset made a slow start with 12 of the first two overs. Banton though started to accelerate reverse sweeping Curran for 6. Although it was the 4th over where he went mad hitting Tom Curran for 22 in one over. He continued to attack and Somerset was 71-0 off of the 6 overs of power play. Banton kept going and reached a truly outstanding 71 off 37. He showed a full array of strokes lighting up the county ground before being caught off Batty. Somerset in a strong position at 93-1 in the 10th over. With banton gone Babar accelerated hitting the spinners for constant boundaries. He fell at 127-2 in the 13th and Eddie Byrom came in for his t29 debut. He overshadowed Banton and finch with a show of ball striking. 54 of 19 balls at a strike rate of 284. He hit everyone for 4 or 6 and hit back to back sixes of Tom Curran to win the game. Somerset winning the game by 8 wickets with 8 balls to go.

Somerset really needed this win and will hope to keep momentum by beating Middlesex in there next game.
