This week it goes to Surrey with there first win of the season when they really needed it. On the first day, they collapsed from 109-3 to 194 all out. A disappointing effort from a team with there top 6 batsmen all having represented England at test level. Surrey were looking like they were going to lose when Warwickshire was 129-2 trailing by just 65. But Surrey showed fight and why they won the championship last year bowling them out for 230 and getting themselves back in the game. Trailing by 36 Surrey batted in partnerships with Stoneman, Elgar and Curran all scoring 50’s and then Clarke with a swashbuckling 49. This took them to 325 and left Warwickshire needing 279 to win. They started well and we’re well placed at 137-2 but then with a few overs left in the day, Batty had Hain stumped. On the final day, Warwickshire needed 142 and were well placed at 190-4. But then they collapsed, not for the first time in the game either, lost three wickets for no runs and then Ambrose was run out and Surrey had all but won then at 190-7. They did go on to win. This leaves Surrey 5th and Warwickshire 7th. Also, this was a great advert for county cricket.
